Jerusalem – Tarrant County

Jerusalem – Tarrant County

Glenview understands that the first responsibility within the mission structure is not to run out and go overseas. Instead, we strive to take care of our community first because that is exactly where Jesus told us to start. As a staff we feel that Glenview’s “Jerusalem” is her backyard: Tarrant County.

These “Community Service Projects” cost less as well as take less of your time and we have a desire that 100% participation from our church is a very real possibility! Within the following paragraphs you will see the heart of Glenview’s staff as we strive to reach our community for Jesus Christ.

Tarrant County Food Bank

A community food distribution ministry. This ministry services Mercy Heart and Community Family Relief Outreach. When you serve here, our ministries get credits toward what we purchase! Sign up your work group or Life Group to help at www.tafb.org or call 817-332-9177.

PowerZone Mission Project

An opportunity for 5th and 6th grade pre-teens to make an impact in the community around them. Glenview pre-teens, along with adult leadership, join together and serve in various local mission projects throughout the year. It is simply taking the foundational truths that they have learned in the classroom and now are applying them to make a lasting impact for the glory of God.

Parties Under the Shadetree

As a community outreach, we offer birthday parties on the first three Saturdays of each month from February through November and two Saturdays a month in January and December. Check out the Children’s and Preschool Ministry pages to find out information about booking your birthday party.

Alliance for Children

Alliance For Children has been serving abused children in Tarrant County since 1992. Over the years, more than 26,000 children have entered an Alliance For Children center looking for hope and healing. Alliance For Children, a nonprofit organization, operates three child friendly centers in Tarrant County, located in Arlington, Fort Worth, and Hurst. Within each of the centers, detectives and Child Protective Services investigators work together to protect the child victim. As a team, they piece together what has happened and take steps to ensure that the child is not victimized again.

The Kids Crew is trained Alliance For Children volunteers who are assisting with abused/neglected children at Cook Children’s Medical Center. At times when a child is severely injured or neglected and requires hospitalization, the parents are often denied access to the child. This results in the child often being alone, which is where the Kids Crew comes in. These volunteers with the Kids Crew are able to go sit with these kiddos! Volunteers are able to hold them (if age appropriate), feed them, sing to them, take them to the playrooms, give them a ride in a wagon, etc. Volunteers are able to give these children some love and attention they so desperately need.
